and concludes that the atrophy is not the result of inflammation. The fibres so alfected lie in contact with the pial membrane of the sheath of the nerve in the peripheral form, and with the prolongation of that membrane about the vessels in the central form. In the periphery, the above-described peripheral septum shuts thein off from the remaining portion of the nerve.
