This Master's thesis deals with the profession of the proofreader in the field of technical translation and tries to identify the strategies that are applied in this process. After explaining the conceptual situation (editing, proofreading, etc.) and examining quality assurance procedures and respective international standards, I will consider parameters and tools for corrections as well as various practical aspects. ... an-Italian. For this purpose, I will examine proof-read texts that were translated from/into Italian and I will qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate them. In this way it will be possible to identify and examine in detail which strategies were applied in the proofreading process (in question form: Which strategies are used in order to proofread translations of technical texts for the language pair German-Italian?). This thesis aims at gaining a broader knowledge of the work of the proofreader in technical translation and encourages scholars to conduct more academic research on the topic.
