To analyze the media messages that deeply affect human perception, to have taken media literacy course, and as a result of this course to be a media literate person is a necessity. The research group of the study is constituted of 48 teacher candidates who have studied in the Department of Social Studies Teachinat Van Yüzüncü Yıl University in the academic year of 2016-2017 and have chosen Media Literacy course as an elective course. The research group of the study is constituted of 48 teacher candidates who have studied in the Department of Social Studies Teaching at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University in 2016-2017 the academic year and have chosen Media Literacy course as an elective course. In the selection of the study group, non-probable sampling method was used from a purposeful and judicial sampling type. The data gathered through the student was analyzed by applying content analysis method. When the obtained findings are generally evaluated in this study, ıt seen that before giving any information to the social studies teaching department students about the media literacy course, students interpreted the cartoon movies without questioning, superficially such as "Sponge bop blows balloon, Batman catches guilty etc."; after eight weeks of media literacy training, the same group of students are more critical and inquisitive about the same cartoon movies and they see the subliminal messages contained in movies clearly.
