The vinyldifluorophosphoranes PhnPF2(CH = CH2)3-n (2a: n = 1, 2b: n = 2) or Ph2PF2(C6H4-CH = CH2) 4 were obtained in good yield by direct fluorination of the corresponding phosphines. Catalytic addition of Ph2PH or PhPH2 to 2b gives phosphino-ethyl-substituted fluorophosphoranes which have not yet been obtained by partial fluorination. The structures have been established by NMR (19F, 31P) and in addition by sulfurisation. Whereas 2b does not polymerize, homopolymerisation of the styrene derivative 4 gives polymer fixed difluorophosphorane.
