Presence as a personal project in palliative care: transcending personality

Presence creates a space of healing and closure for patients who receive palliative care. Presence may be linked to personality, which raises the question how presence can be fostered in nurses who do not have a natural gift to "be with" patients. The idea of personal projects may offer an answer, as it is argued that such personal projects transcend personality.
