Berberine, a natural cationic dye with excellent antibacterial activity, was extracted from the roots of Berberis vulgaris and applied on cotton fabric. Naturally, there is no affinity of cationic dyes for cotton fiber. To improve the dyeability of cotton fiber, plasma treatment and acrylic acid grafting, using plasma technology for pretreatment, were employed. The grafting of acrylic acid was confirmed using ATR-FTIR. The effect of pretreatments on the dyeability of cotton was evaluated. The
