対話するパレスチナ : 芸術が創出する公共圏

The author used Palestinian art to create a "public sphere" for cross-cultural contact in a distance-learning class. In this paper, an historical consideration of dialogue of "public sphere" was analyzed to understand how art-based education works to help visualize "the others" existence. When art is appreciated, it brings about the formation of a place where a kind of other appears, that is, the "public sphere". more » ... ogue with other participants. The viewer finds information outside the "intimate sphere" in which the work of art was created and explanation of the work's meaning depicted. As a result, not only informational exchange but also empathic and emotional exchange between the viewer and the work is achieved, which can be considered a space for a certain kind of dialogue. In this paper, the author used works of art as a space for cross-cultural contact to deepen the understanding of others. The theory of distance learning using works of art as a place to visually reveal the "other", visualize it as a non-convergent polyvoice, and form a "dialogue" with it, is explored.
