Yahya Kemal (1884Kemal ( -1958 was bom during the OUoman period and die d as a very well known poet of his time and a retired diplomat of the young Turkish Republic. He is considered as one of the last representatives of classical Ottoman poetry. He died in 1958 at the age of 74; his funeral was one of the most crowded of those days in İstanbul, aUesting the immense popularity of this great poet.
