A Study of Fossa Vel Spina of North Indian Crania in Rohilkhand Region

There are controversial statements in the available literature regarding the variations in the trochlear foveae or fossae and spines. This study was undertaken especially to know about the variations in Indian skulls in Western Uttar Pradesh. A total of 25 skulls from the anatomy museum of Rohilkhand Medical College and Hospital, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, were studied. In 18 (72%) cases, the trochlear foveae were present on both sides. In 3 (12%) cases, bilateral trochlear spines were present.
more » ... nes were present. Spines were present only on one side in 3 (12%) cases. We also noticed that in 1 (4%) case, both the spines and foveae were absent bilaterally.
