Aspergillus infection on Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus was found in a study of the fisheries ecology of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The discovery of the fungus infection on fish is the first of its kind in the region. Its occurrence was attributed to environmental degradation resulting from incessant oil spillages that pollute the region water.
