... vational research, of a descriptive-comparative nature and with a quantitative approach. Data were obtained through SINAN NET, the National Disease and Disease Registry Notification System with the support of the SRS in Uberlândia, using information contained in the notification forms for whooping cough (sociodemographic, clinical and epidemiological variables) among years of 2008 and 2017. Conclusion: it can be seen that of the 388 cases of pertussis reported between 2008 and 2017, 327 (84.27%) were in the city of Uberlândia, the highest incidence of notifications occurred in younger children 01 year old. After 2014, there was a decrease in reported cases and this probably occurred due to the inclusion of the DTPa vaccine in the pregnant woman's calendar, with the purpose of protecting the newborn against pertussis. Another important data evidenced in this study was the low rate of notifications in the rural area when compared to the urban area, which makes us reflect on the question of the assistance provided to this population that lives far from the metropolitan areas and who need care.Understanding that pertussis is an immunopreventable disease, it is of fundamental importance to plan and adopt surveillance measures through actions to promote, prevent and control complications of the disease in hospital institutions and the health network as a whole.
