This paper deals with Svetislav Stefanović's interpretation of William Shakespeare's plays in which he presents Shakespeare as a classic of world literature (which at the time was a Eurocentric concept). Analyzing how Shakespeare used different sources for his own plays, Stefanović applies a comparative approach and compares Shakespeare with the Bible and with Greek and Roman authors, as well as with other European writers, such as Goethe and Dostoyevsky.
