Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2016-2017 eğitimöğretim yılında Erzurum ili merkezinde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı anasınıfı ve bağımsız anaokullarında görev yapan ve ailelerle iletişimde WhatsApp gruplarını kullanan 29 okul öncesi öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Yüz yüze görüşme yöntemiyle elde edilen veriler öğretmenlerden ses kayıt cihazı yardımıyla toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ses kayıtlarının tamamı birebir transkript edilmiş ve yazılı bir formata dönüştürülmüştür. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz tekniğine göre çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucuna göre okul öncesi eğitimde WhatsApp gruplarının öğretmen-aile iletişiminde kullanılabilir bir araç olduğu, özellikle hızlı ve kolay iletişim kurma ve aileleri topluca bilgilendirme noktasında öğretmenlere kolaylıklar sağladığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca görüşme yapılan öğretmenler, ailelerle iletişiminde WhatsApp gruplarının birçok avantajının yanında çeşitli dezavantajları olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. ABSTRACT This research was carried out in order to determine the usage purposes, advantageous and disadvantageous aspects of WhatsApp groups in teacher-family communication in view of the opinions of preschool teachers who use WhatsApp groups in communication with families. The data used in the study, which employed qualitative research method, were obtained using a semistructured interview protocol, which is a qualitative data collection tool and was prepared by the researchers by scanning the related field literature and taking expert opinions. The study group included 29 preschool teachers working in kindergartens affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and independent kindergartens in Erzurum province in 2016-2017 academic year and preferring WhatsApp groups to communicate with the families of their students. The data obtained through the face-to-face interview method were collected from the teachers with the help of a voice recorder. In the analysis of the data, all of the voice recordings were transcribed and converted into a written form. The data obtained were analyzed according to the descriptive analysis technique. According to the results of the research, WhatsApp groups in preschool education were found to be a useful tool for teacher-family communication and it was determined that WhatsApp groups in preschool education provided teachers with facilities to communicate fast and easily particularly in the group informing activities. In addition, the teachers interviewed stated that there were various disadvantages besides many advantages of WhatsApp groups in family communication.
