Using the Chi− −Plot for Studying the Randomness of Residuals from a Fitted Model

The chi-plot initially developed by Fisher and Switzer is used to study the existence of randomness is a set of observations. Also the use of residual as diagnostic tool for detecting outliers from an assumed model, and for assessing the overall goodness of fit of the model, is well established (Zucchini and MacDonald, 1999).
