When Genghis Khan established the Great Mongol Empire in 1206 and divided the country among his mother, sons and brothers, he gave eight thousand citizens to Chagatai as a share. According to the Mongolian Secret Bureau, they were citizens of Jalayr, Barlas, Khuuchid and Arluad aimags. Later, before Genghis Khan ascended to heaven, he divided his army among his sons, and Tsagaidai was assigned four thousand soldiers.
