RESUMO O presente estudo trata-se de um breve ensaio acerca da função socioespacial do pe-queno comércio, tipo bodega, no processo de formação dos bairros populares, especi-almente os bairros da cidade de Campina Grande. ABSTRACT The present study is a brief essay about the sociospacial function of small shops, bodega-like, in the process of formation of the popular barrios, especially the barrios of the city of Campina Grande. The bodegas always had a significant participation in the urban growth of this city, since the traditional and famous regional street markets. The importance of the bodegas in the history of the daily life of the inhabitants of the poorest urban places represent, above all, a peculiarity of these small commercial houses that had always been active in the production of these spaces.
