This paper assesses the economic impact on Ontario shippers of introducing longer trailers. Ontario held off until 1993 to introduce 53' semi-trailers and at the time of writing this paper, Quebec still had not passed legislation to accept such trailers. Further to the east, New Brunswick, P.E.I. and Newfoundland have recently accepted longer trailers.
