Proposal for the theoretical investigation of light-ion beam propagation through a residual plasma environment
[report]

unpublished
In collaboration with the TRW Defense and Space Systems Group, a 22-month investigation of ion beam propagation in residual plasma is proposed by the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. We hope to gain insight into the nonlinear physics of microinstabilities associated with a well-collimated ion beam propagating through a plasma, to isolate parameter regimes where problem areas for propagation appear to exist, and to suggest techniques to overcome any problems.
