Pentacarbonyl(methoxyphenylcarbene)-chromium(0) and ß-diketonesR1COCH2COR2 (R1, R2 = CH3, CF3, NHCONH) react on heating to give the meso-, RR- and SS-configurational isomers of 1,2-dimethoxy-1,2-diphenylethane.
