Salvia incarnata Cavanilles (1800) is an illegitimate name, for an earlier homonym by Etlinger (1777) already exists; it has therefore been substituted by Salvia elegans Vahl (1804). Both homotypic synonyms are herein lectotypifi ed based on original material at MA collected by L. Née, and studied and annotated by A. J. Cavanilles.
