ARTICLE INFO Poppet engine valve is a precision engine component whose functionality is to seal the working space inside the cylinder against manifolds by continuously opening and closing of valve according to valve timing diagram. Engine valve tends to fail due to fatigue as it is subjected to fluctuating stresses. This research deals with evaluating the effect of change in neck radius on mechanical properties of engine valve manufactured from EN 24 and EN 36. Tensile test is conducted

Fatigue strength exponent, fatigue ductility exponent and fatigue life (strain life curve) are evaluated by strain life approach using Modified four point relation method. It is seen that fatigue strength increases by more than 12% with increase in neck radius and by more than 19% by increase in diameter of head of valve manufactured by EN 24 and EN 36. Experimental results are validated using Ansys Workbench software. Keywords-Engine valve, Strain life curve, Fatigue strength Modified four point relation method Article History
