Biochemical Evaluation of Anti-inflammatory Effect of Parsley Oil in Biliary Colic

Biliary colic is an abdominal pain usually resulted from cholelithiasis and gallstones. Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) derived from the Umbelliferae family is one of the most consumed herbs due to its aromatic properties. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anti inflammatory effect of parsley in biliary colic. more » ... ated biliary colic group. The result of the present study showed a significant increase of inflammatory biomarkers IL2, IL6, TNF, histamine and cortisol in biliary colic group. The result also showed a significant decrease in inflammatory biomarkers IL2, IL6, TNF, histamine and cortisol in biliary colic group after administration of parsley oil. In conclusion we suggested that parsley can relief the pain resulted from cholelithiasis and gallstones through its anti-inflammatory properties.
