... ns were identified. The characteristics symptoms were severe low back pain and muscle spasm that began on the 7-14th days postoperatively. The primary physical findings were paravertebral muscle spasm and limited spinal motion. The detected laboratory fihding was elevated. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). The elevated ESR and the clinical findings were taken as the criteria for diagnosis. The treatment consisted of administration of wide spectrum antibiotics and antiinflamatoly drugs and strict bedrest. GİRİŞ Postoperatif intervertebral disk mesafe enfeksiyon-ları sık görülmesine rağmen nöroşirürjinin önemli komplikasyonlanndan biri olmaya devam etmek-tedir. % 0.02 ile % 1.2 oranında değişiklik gösteren sıklıkla rastlanmakta olup, tedavisinde de de ğişik uygulamalar mevcuttur (1,5,7,10,11,12). MATERYEL ve METOD Bakırköy Ruh ve Sinir Hastalıkları Hastanesi Nö-roşirürji Kliniği kayıtları incelenerek postoperatif in-tervertebral disk mesafe enfeksiyonu tan ısı konulan 8 hasta saptandı. Tanıda klinik tablo ve artm ış erit-rosit sedimentasyon oran ı temel olarak alınmıştır. Olguların 5'i erkek, 3'ü kadındı. Hastalar 22-61 yaş-ları arasındaydı. Ortalama yaş 40 idi.
