Improvement of eri silkworm tolerance to high temperature was carried out under high temperature (42±1°C) and low relative humidity (50±5% R.H., relative humidity). Eri silkworm rearing at normal temperature (25±2°C; 80±5% R.H.) served as control treatment and was compared to rearing at high temperatures. Directional selection was undertaken with the batches reared at 42±1°C and 50±5% R.H. until the 5 th generation. From 6 th , 8 th , 10 th and 12 th generations, rearing was conducted as normal
