Abstract: The work aims to conduct a reflection on the concept of socio-spatial segregation understanding of urban floods, with a view to distribution and unequal appropriation of urban space, and also on the Social Services intervention next to the affected social groups, considering the need to strengthen own break with immediacy and targeted interventions of professional conservatism, with the assumption the ethical-political project. The findings suggest that the appropriation of urban space by disenfranchised population segments is a prerequisite for coping with environmental disasters, falling to the Social Work struggles and strengthen the autonomy of collective subjects.
