The patent" a liealtlhy youthl, lhad received a small incised wound in the chest, but apparently kept quite well for a few days, and was then found to be suffering from bloody effiusioni --twice requiring'tapping-fairly high temperature, and other symptoms. Complete recovery took place. CARDIFF MEDICAL SOCIETY.-At a meeting on1 January I ith, Dr. R. PRICHARD in tlle clhair, Dr. BARNARDO showed a case of polypoid disease of the riglit antrum of Highlmore. The patient was a womiian, aged 35, who lhad suffered fiomii dry thlroat and periodical headaches, and pusl was seen runninig downi the posterior nares. Since the operation of draining the antrum thlrouglh thc canine fossa and nose. the symptoms had been much alleviated, but tlhe shadow test showed co'ntinued opacity of the a;ntirum. Messrs. PRITCHARD, BIoGs, and LYNN THOMAS commenited upon the case; and Dr. BARNARDO replied.-Dr. OWEN RHYS showed (for Dr. C. T. VACHELL) an advanced case of pseudohypertrophic muscular paralysis in a boy, aged J2.-Mr. WILLIAM SHEEN read a paper on the immediate inivestigation and treatment of bullet and shell wounids, based on six months' experience as surgeon to the Yeomaniry Field Hospital during the Soutlh Africani campaign. A descriptioni of the Mauser wound immediately after infliction was giveni, anid the points to be investigated were indicated. The various types of shell wounids were described, anid finally the results of certain rarer forms; of injury, such as those caused by expanding bullets and explodinig cartridges, were detailed. A discussion followed, in whichl M1m LYNN THOAMAS an1d Dr. RHYs GmFFITHs took part; anid Mr. WILLIAM SHEEN replied.-The PRESIDENT proposed, anid Dr. D. R. PATERSON seconded, the following resolution: That this society congratulates its Hloniorary Secretar-ies, Mr. Lynn Thomas and Mr. William Shteen, on the eminent services they have 'endered to tlleir country during the war, and rejoices at thlCir safe return home.
