The acid requirement of mixtures of thiosalphats and nitrite for complete decomposition has been investi. gated potentiometrically and found to change with experimental conditions. The results show that the reactions involved are complex and may involve simple displacement of thiosalphuric and nitrous acids, followed by antoxidations of the free acids, their atmospheric oxidations, or oxidation by nitrous acid
