Vasculitis can be categorized as large-vessel vasculitis, medium-vessel vasculitis, and small-vessel vasculitis. ANCA (Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies)-associated vasculitis share a form of necrotizing small vessel vasculitis. AAV in most patients is treated with cyclophosphamide or rituximab and glucocorticoids. Appropriate reporting of randomized clinical trials (RTCs) is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of each treatment. PURPOSE: The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the reference quality of RTCs investigating the effectiveness of rituximab in AAV. In addition, the reference quality of studies published in high-and low-impact journals was compared. METHODS: RCTs searched in Pubmed database. The CONSORT statement was used to assess the reference quality of the RCTs. A score was calculated for each study and for each criterion of the statement and a comparison followed. RESULTS: Nine RCTs were included and evaluated. Eight of the studies meet more than 75% of the criteria. One study meets 40.5% of the criteria. The way of data collection, changes in the outcomes, the similarity of the interventions and the reasons for interrupting the study are referred in less than 50% of the studies. CONCLUSION: The report of the RCTs was found to be of high quality and their results can be used safely.
