This article describes in detail the system used by the UGent-IBCN team for participating in the Text Analysis Conference (TAC) 2012 Mono-Lingual Entity-Linking task. The presented system is essentially rule-based, following a generic framework that is highly optimised for each label (i.e. with different rules for persons, organisations, and locations). more » ... building an efficient and effective system. These treated issues include resolving abbreviated organisation names, resolving popular nicknames, or taking into account American vs British spelling.
