Pendahuluan ampai saat ini membincang tentang psikologi perempuan masih merupakan topik menarik dan seakan tidak ada habisnya, karena perempuan dalam cita, citra, cinta, dan cerita selalu mengandung dan mengundang kontroversi. Ketertarikan tersebut disebabkan beberapa alasan, yaitu (1) Psikologi memiliki karakteristik yang unik, dinamis, dan totalitas, yang mencakup keseluruhan dari aspek psikofisiknya, sehingga tidak dapat didefinisikan secara sederhana; (2) Mayoritas beranggapan, psikologi perempuan sangat terkait dan selalu dikaitkan dengan karakteristik fisiologis yang dimilikinya.
