This work makes an analysis of the points of view indicated by Leyla Perrone-Moisés in her essay "Altas literaturas" (1988), in which the author defends the existence of a western literary canon, based on the fact that the authors, chosen by herself, are also literary critics. This fact is, for the essayist, enough criterion for the definition of the considered model.
