Fracture of 3D printed brittle open-cell structures under compression
2019
Materials & design
The specimens were fabricated by 3D printing • Notched long strip specimens were fracture under displacement control • The fracture energy, GIC , was evaluated by 3 different approaches • The fracture energy, GIC , is not a material property, but is dictated by the collapse mechanisms under Euler buckling • The conclusions of this research is applicable to practical problems in several disciplines and at multiple length scales
