The sociology of valuation and evaluation is a 'booming field' (Meer and Lamont, 2016: 8) that provides the thematic framework for a plethora of different empirical phenomena. Yet, current debates lament deficiencies in a clear analytical focus and a profound theoretical conceptualization.
