Metal Matrix Composites (,WVICs) with an aluminium-siiicon based LM-i 3 alloy and short-staple Sdfi l irj-alumina! fibres with volume fractions of 0,10,0.15,0.20,0;Z and 0.30 have been produced using a pressure liquid infiltralion process, The stmdud T6 heat tratment procedure was applied to both the unreinforced matrix .day and the composites, ,wd the effect of the f i b~s on the age-hardening characteristics of the composites has been investigated by means of hardness me3suremenb.
