Researcher tried to identify respiratory synchytial virus(RSV) positivity in children 0-24 months old ,which is a cause of lower respiratory tract infection especially in children 0-6 years of age. 55 children 0-24 months old with a diagnosis of lower respiratory infection were searched for RSV virus in their nasopharingeal secretions and their pysical examination and pulmonary radiographic findings were analyzed. Research findings is similar to the RSV positivity levels in the literature for children with a diagnosis of lower respiratory infection with a value of 40 percent in this research.Since main aetiology of lower respiratory infections in children under five years of age is viral, a rapid test detecting RSV precludes unfounded antibiotic usage.
