Education provides skills, knowledge and expertise necessary for influencing positive change. It plays a crucial leadership role in developing the capacity of learners to self-organize and participate in the process that enables them to better understand, innovate, recover and adapt in the face of increasing climate uncertainty. more » ... f the programme with the hope of re-engineering it to help in solving problems bedeviling humanity. In Vihiga County, the government had invested heavily to improve the productivity of the beneficiaries in various spheres of development, like addressing the negative effects of climate change. Despite all these, there is still the problem of degradation of forests in the area. The study, established that the beneficiaries of the programme were rarely using the knowledge and skills learnt in the programme to involve in activities that mitigate climate change and effectively adapt in the face of the changes. The programme, therefore, plays a very minimal role in helping the beneficiaries to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
