The development of unmanned vehicle technology is rapidly proceeding and will result in numerous advances in autonomous vehicles. Most of the research effort to date focuses on the safe and effective operation of these vehicles that will allow them to integrate into society. A research gap exists though in the technical, policy, and legal fields regarding illicit use of these vehicles beyond their programmed functions.
