Back ground: In spite of sig nif i cant prog ress in diag nos tics and sur gery for pan cre atic in ju ries in the last few de cades, there have still been pro fessional con tro ver sies about its man age ment. Aim: Ret ro spec tive anal y sis of pa tients with pan cre atic in ju ries, treated at the Clinic for Ur gent Sur gery of the Emer gency Cen ter, Clin i cal Cen ter of Serbia (2003-2013), high light ing the rel e vant di agnos tic and ther a peu ti cal as pects of the pan cre atic inju
more » ... es, pres ent di lem mas, as well as re view of postop er a tive com pli ca tions and mor tal ity. Meth ods: Statis ti cal anal y sis. Re sults: In the abovementioned period, 60 pa tients with pan cre atic in ju ries were treated. More than 50% of pa tients were man aged by le sion su ture and drain age. A to tal per cent age of com pli cations was 32.6% and an over all mor tal ity was 18%. Con clu sion: Man age ment of pan cre atic in ju ries might pres ent a se ri ous pro fes sional prob lem, even if managed by qual i fied and ex pe ri enced teams in highly spe cial ized ("high vol ume") cen ters.
