Silvana Drumond Monteiro holds a Ph.D. in communication and semiotic and postdoctoral degree in information sciences. She is currently an associate professor at the Department of Information Science at the State University of Londrina, Brazil, working on undergraduate and graduate programs. She is also the Coordinator of post-graduation program (Stricto Sensu) in information science at the same institution (PPGCI/UEL). She is a titular professor from the School of Information Studies of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (ECI/UFMG). She is Director of Information Governance in UFMG. Her range of interests comprehends semiotics and collaborative media, social and theoretical foundations of information and knowledge organization in collaborative environments.
