The delivery of drug substance through the mucosa (oral) presents a great opportunity but also poses continuing challenges. Xerostomia, the excessive dryness of mouth, and reduction in the saliva secretion poses a debilitating condition for majority of patients. Evaluation of xerostomia starts with a careful and complete examination of mouth.
