In this study, a bioreactor system is controlled by a three-parameter flexible controller, the parameter adjustment for which is based on a switching strategy using the theoretical framework of Variable Structure Systems (VSS). The simulations performed demonstrate that the controller is able to meet the performance specifications under the existence of observation noise and time varying process parameters.
