TWO JUVENILE ASCARIDOIOS FRO:\I SOME MARINE FISH IN THE RED SEA, EGYPT

Two juvenile asearidoids (Nematoda) were found in the intestine of three marine fish species from the Red Sea (Hurghada). These juveniles were belonging to Hysterothylacium sp. (Type II) and Contracaecllm sp. (Types I & II). 31 % of Lethrinlls mahsena (Mehsen) were found to be infected with juveniles of Hysterothylacium sp. (Type II), whereas only 1% of Siganus luridlls and Siganus rivulatlls were infected with both Type I and II of Contracaecum sp. juveniles. These species of fish in the Red

The need to further our knowledge about the juvenile ascaridoids in marine fish from the Red Sea, together with the economic significance of these worms have prompted this study. Therefare,light as well as ultrastructural studies were carried out revealing more details, in an attempt to cover all the nematode juveniles from this area that arc yet rarely described.
