The contemporary scenario predominated by information and knowledge perspectives indicate the pressing need to educate and train the library and information manpower towards a sustainable professional competence. The manpower of today will meet in the near future the new challenges and the onslaught of the impact of Information Technology on LIS envisages to make substantial contribution to the ever perpetuating Information Society. They need to be equipped in this context with necessary skills
more » ... and competency to satisfy the high level, complex and evergrowing multifarious information needs of the user. This paper discusses the pros and cons of LIS Education Scenario in the developing countries and stresses the need for model curriculum.
