MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF THE AuCu3-TYPE Sm-COMPOUNDS

Resistivity, susceptibility, specific heat a d magnetization measurements on single crystals SmPb3, SmPds and SmT13 are performed. The phase transition of the antiferromagnet, SmPb3, is of first order at 5.1 K. SmPda shows an antiferromagnetic ordering at 1.36 K. SmT13 behaves as a ferromagnet with T, =8.6 K. The ground states of sm3+ (J= 512) ions in these Sm-compounds are r s quartets.
