Edip Cansever, who is among the representatives of Turkish poetry of the Republic period and the Second New poets, has revealed poems that attract attention in terms of both form and content with its unique style. He tried to explain his feelings, his inner world, his frustrations by giving place to original images in his poems. In his understanding of poetry, he also directed questions about the existence of the individual, people, the world, and the mope he experienced during this time. It is noticed that the poet, who cannot incompatible and uncompromising with society and the thoughts of society, falls into a deep depression and melancholy. In this situation, the individual uses his inner world, sometimes the thought of death, as a refuge or escape point. In this work, the thought of death in Edip Cansever's poem "Acı Kum" and the reasons behind this thought will be tried to be revealed from the poet's sense of art.
