A review of hyper-heuristics for educational timetabling
2014
Annals of Operations Research
Hyper-heuristics aim at providing generalized solutions to combinatorial optimization problems. Educational timetabling encompasses university examination timetabling, university course timetabling and school timetabling. This paper provides an overview of the use of hyperheuristics to solve educational timetabling problems. The paper then proposes future research directions focusing on using hyper-heuristics to provide a generalized solution over the domain of educational timetabling instead of for a specific timetabling problem.
