Evaluation of several steroid seroflocculants

Steroids known to be active seroflocculants from earlier screening were tested with 27 normal, 173 cancer, and 39 noncancen, diseased sena. Certain types (e.g., lung cancer) gave a higher than 90 per cent positive flocculation with some steroids, but interference by other diseases was severe (up to 74 per cent for tuberculosis). A second series of tests with compounds related to 3,3-bisethylthio-5a-androstan-17@-yl acetate substantially confirmed the first series. The floc was isolated and
