The mechanism(s) involved in the binding of lipoteichoic acid (LTA), isolated from virulent, asymptomatic, or avirulent serotype Ill strains of group B streptococci, to human embryonic epithelial cells (HEC), human fetal epithelial cells (HFC), and human adult buccal epithelial cells was investigated.
