Effects on Performance When Using a Posture Assistance Device – Results of a Usability Evaluation in Laboratory Setting

This study systematically analyses the effects on performance (effectiveness and efficiency) as well as experience (satisfaction) when using a Posture Assistance Device (PAD). Therefore an evaluation of the presented PAD was made by a multiple measurement approach in laboratory setting. In a within subject design two tasks were performed in two conditions with and without PAD. The results show advantages of the PAD regarding all criteria. more » ... a reduction of the electrical activity of the analyzed trapezius and delta muscle when using the PAD (human efficiency). Furthermore the results show that the usage of the PAD improves the performance by decreasing the time (use efficiency) and errors (effectiveness) in both tasks. The ratings of the subjects show a satisfied attitude towards the PAD, too.
