RESUMO: A radiografia panorâmica é o exame de maior procura para o planejamento do tratamento odontológico e pode apresentar distorções em determinadas regiões do crânio, podendo ocorrer variações de intensidades. ... clinações da linha média sagital, inclinação ventral e dorsal e inclinação da cabeça. Foram obtidas radiografias panorâmicas em todas as posições, e estas foram avaliadas e comparadas a uma radiografia de controle, com posicionamento correto. Os resultados obtidos das análises mostraram que uma pequena variação no posicionamento do paciente pode alterar o planejamento odontológico, concluindo que não se pode padronizar um valor único de magnificação do aparelho de raios-X panorâmico, devido à grande variação existente entre as áreas anatômicas. A magnificação maior foi encontrada na região posterior e no maxilar inferior, e essa variação encontrada foi devido à mudança do posicionamento na inclinação ventral quando comparada à radiografia controle. MAGNIFYING EFFECTS IN PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPHY ABSTRACT: In all the specialties of the Brazilian dental clinic the panoramic x-ray is the examination of bigger demand for a planning of the treatment of the patients. The radiography panoramic has a distortions and regions where these distortions if process with bigger intensity, therefore, had been evaluated the relative magnifying to the incorrect positioning of the patient in the x-rays odontologyc device. For this a macerated skull was used, where was fixing metallic spheres in predefined regions, the skull was provoking variations in the positions as inclination of the medium-sagittal line, ventral and dorsal inclination and rotation of the head. The positions had been carried through panoramic x-rays in all, which had been evaluated later and compared with an s-ray with correct positioning. The results had shown that a small variation in the positioning of the patient can modify the dental planning, concluding that we cannot standardize one only value of magnifying of the panoramic device of x-rays, had the great existing variation between anatomical areas.
